NEW YORK May 22, 2002 It was announced today that television personality, restaurateur, author, and merchandiser Barbara Smith will return for a sixth season this fall as host of the nationally syndicated weekly half-hour television series "B. Smith With Style." The series is sponsored by products of Procter & Gamble and Kraft Foods.
Recently celebrating her 100th episode, "B. Smith With Style" is the longest-running syndicated half-hour lifestyle program hosted by an African-American woman ever. Airing in over 200 markets representing 90% of the United States, "B. Smith With Style" is carried by such prestigious broadcasters as WNBC-TV in New York, KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, and WMAQ-TV in Chicago. Internationally, the series airs in more than 20 countries, including South Africa and throughout Latin America.
"I am delighted with the success of the show," said B. "The response we have received from viewers around the world has been overwhelming and extremely positive. We look forward to producing new and evolving lifestyle programming for season six, and for years to come."
Commencing production, season six of "B. Smith With Style," is slated to go on-location to Canada for the first time, as well as 10 other great North American cities, including visits with an all-star line-up of friends and celebrity guests. Sampling local fare and style from New York to Los Angeles, San Francisco to Miami, B. is known for taking her viewers behind-the-scenes of designer showrooms, historic homes, street markets, restaurants, and even auto racetracks to hobnob with celebrities and todays important designers, artists and chefs.

Smith With Style" has featured numerous notable personalities, including Maya Angelou, Billy Joel, Suzanne Somers, Chubby Checker, Steve Allen, Olympia Dukakis, Aretha Franklin, Danny Glover, Naomi Judd, Gladys Knight, Susan Lucci, Dr. Ruth, Morgan Fairchild, Diahann Carroll, Judy Collins, Kate Spade, Yolanda Adams, Cynthia Rowley, and Billy Dee Williams.

A seasoned culinary and lifestyle expert, Smith was recently recognized by Elle Décor magazine as one of Americas 10 most outstanding non-professional chefs in the country. Additionally, she is the first African-American woman ever to be elected to the Board of Trustees of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. Featured on the June 2002 cover of Private Clubs magazine and in the March 2002 issue of Black Enterprise magazine, Smith has been a frequent guest on television entertainment shows, including the "Today Show," "Good Morning America," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee," as well as numerous local newscasts and public speaking engagements across the country.
Smith is the owner of three successful B. Smith restaurants located in New Yorks Times Square theatre district, Washington, D.C.s historic Union Station, and the scenic Long Island Hampton Village of Sag Harbor, New York. The B. Smith Restaurant Group was formed in May 1998 and is in the process of expanding its holdings.
In 1995, Smith broke ground in the publishing industry. "B. Smiths Entertaining and Cooking for Friends" (Artisan Press) was the first tabletop entertainment and lifestyle book authored by an African American. Her second book "B. Smith: Rituals and Celebrations," published in 1999 by Random House, was nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award, and it was chosen by Food & Wine as one of the best cookbooks of 1999, as well as by the American Library Association for the Black Caucus Literary Award. Smith also writes a column titled "Stylewise" for Soap Opera Digest. For 2002, Smith is working on the first in her new series of lifestyle and entertaining books.
Since it's debut in September 1996, "B. Smith With Style" has been distributed by Hearst Entertainment and sponsored by products of Procter & Gamble and Kraft Foods.
